Plastic Parts Molding – Case StudyA local company recently decided to outsource the molding of plastic parts for their commercial lighting program. CTD Molding bought their parts molding assets, and moved them to our plant. Included were five presses, eighty-four molds, and assembly equipment. CTD Molding started production and shipping the plastic parts without missing due ship dates. CTD Molding set up a MRP system to manage production. Many of the molds were usable with minor repairs. Other molds needed major changes to decrease cycle time and scrap. After evaluating each mold, suggestions were made for changes. After the changes were implemented, they were run again and parts were shipped.
